MOVE IT

The London Underground being what it is, most weekends about half the lines are shut. In addition to the lines being shut, a lot of the stations are being overhauled. This means that escalators are not working amongst other things.

It was most amusing that one of the first times that I came across an instance of a stationary escalator, there was a bunch of people who looked perplexed as to what they should do. Have we become so sedentary that we depend on contraptions to ease absolutely any physical activity?

Speaking of which, I have traditionally shirked regular exercise or going to the gym. When I look back at pictures of old, I feel ever so more conscious that I need to get healthy (which does not mean rounder). It is way past the time for a new year’s resolution but it is never too late to do something that is good.

TIMEX

Time. To say it is the most precious commodity would be wrong because unlike other commodities it cannot be traded, else the next thing you know there would be a Time Exchange with the acronym TIMEX.

It is non-transferrable, non-encashable, and cannot be postponed and certainly can’t be taken with you. It is here and now and it is up to each of us to make what we want to of it. So often I feel as if time is behaving paradoxically. As if a week ago was actually months ago and at the same time just like yesterday and the same with the future.

I remember reading that as one has spent more time in existence, each year seems shorter. This is because as a portion of life, every subsequent year occupies a smaller relative part of the pie.

It is easy to moan that we are bored. It is up to us to decide how we want to utilise our time. It is equally easy to think that we have too much to do. If that is the case, it is our duty to prioritise our time and give due importance to the crucial ones.

Use it well, else before you know TIME IS UP.
